Abstract:
Abstract This article presents the issue of business activation of women in Poland who start a business despite reaching senior age. In the process of creating a company, there are both positive and negative motivations. Positive motivations result from the ‘need to become an entrepreneur’, including starting one's own business, the desire to be independent, becoming one's boss, and achieving business success. Negative motivations include a lack of prospects as an employee, losing one's previous job, or reaching retirement age. Based on the interviews conducted, the authors focused on the issue of motivations that guide women aged 50+ when starting their own businesses.
