Abstract: Abstract In recent years, sport hospitality has evolved, enabling clubs to fully utilize their stadiums year-round, leading to higher revenues and serving as effective marketing platforms. Their income sources now extend beyond matchdays to include broadcasting revenues and commercial use of facilities and services. This demonstrates the necessity for constant upgrades and renewal of stadium products, services, and experiences. Despite the growth in stadium tourism, sustainable development of sports facilities remains a significant concern, hinging on ownership structure and management policies. This paper presents pilot research exploring the importance of sustainable management of football stadiums for both the destination city and the stadium as a tourist attraction. By reviewing the literature on sustainable stadiums, this preliminary study examines the sustainable policies and revenue strategies of major Greek stadiums. Findings indicate a focus on modernizing infrastructure, but a gap in comprehensive environmental sustainability strategies. Social responsibility, evidenced by community facilities and cultural engagement, significantly contributes to economic robustness. Ownership and management philosophies are crucial for developing stadiums as sustainable tourism destinations. Municipal enterprises and sports associations blend community initiatives with commercial activities, enhancing social responsibility and economic vitality. This study provides a framework for sustainable and innovative stadium development, balancing economic goals with environmental and social responsibilities.
