Abstract: Abstract Professional training in technical universities assumes foreign language teaching improvement. This is the main problem in modern education within the frame of sustainable development. An important means of solving this problem is the technology of integrated learning «Content and Language Integrated Learning» (hereinafter CLIL). However, this technology is poorly used in the activities of technical universities. The task of this research is to define and analyze the main areas of using the technology of subject-language integrated learning (CLIL) for teaching a foreign language in a technical university as a means of increasing the effectiveness of professional training in modern socio-economic conditions. A practical analysis of existing teaching aids for technical universities was carried out on the basis of those available and widely used in the teaching practice of the Kazan State Power Engineering University. The task of this research is to reveal the basic components of the CLIL method. The foundations for the application of CLIL technology are substantiated. Foreign language teaching aids for teaching in a technical university are considered as basic ones. It is clearly proven that CLIL technology is embedded in the structure of Carrier textbooks Path. The prospects and productivity of using this technology are shown both for achieving the effectiveness of teaching a foreign language and, in general, professional education in modern Russian universities. This research has a great practical importance as to be seen in the development of the methodology for implementing CLIL technology into the practice of teaching a professionally oriented foreign language. The materials of the article can be useful for university teachers engaged in the practice of teaching a foreign language with a narrow disciplinary emphasis, and researchers of higher professional education.
