Abstract:
Abstract In an era defined by swift digital transformation, this study examines the evolving leadership traits of Romanian professionals, focusing on decision-making adaptability, hierarchical dynamics, and cross-cultural positioning. Drawing on survey data, qualitative interviews, heatmaps, and a forest plot analysis, the research identifies a duality in Romanian leadership: a commitment to conventional hierarchical principles coexists with emerging participative practices, particularly among emerging leaders within private-sector firms. The study contextualises Romania within a global leadership framework, highlighting its alignment with structured, task-oriented cultures like Germany and Spain, while contrasting with participative environments such as the Netherlands. Additionally, digital transformation emerges as a critical driver reshaping leadership adaptability and communication preferences in Romania. This paper contributes to leadership literature by integrating quantitative and qualitative data with comparative visualisations, offering actionable insights for practitioners and researchers. Limitations include reliance on self-reported data and the need for expanded sectoral representation. Future research could explore the interplay of digitalisation, generational shifts, and cross-sector dynamics in Romanian leadership. These findings provide practical guidance for Romanian (expatriate) leaders as they navigate the complexities of digital transformation and the intricacies of global professional landscapes.
