Abstract:
Abstract Longevity is a process that depends not only on genetics but also on various factors that contribute to a good quality of life. In Vilcabamba, Ecuador, some of the world’s longest-living people have been found. Scientists, locals, and tourists have observed the benefits of living in this place, generating greater collective awareness in some cases about the quality of life and tranquility in Vilcabamba. Lifestyles are crucial for the elderly in Vilcabamba to live even beyond 90 years. This research explores whether diet, living in a place like Vilcabamba, and lifestyle are vital for the dignified longevity of its inhabitants in the first quarter of the twenty-first century. The hypothesis is that good nutrition and lifestyles translate into full longevity. The exploratory methodology included interviews with seven elderly individuals aged 84–94, using the “snowball” technique to obtain in-depth interviews, which were recorded and transcribed.
