Abstract: Abstract The Intervention Project was developed in a Residential Structure for Elderly People (ERPI) located in a municipality in northern Portugal. Based on Action-Research Methodology, the project sought to identify problems, needs, opportunities, providing the foundation for an intervention plan aimed at stimulating psychomotricity. It was possible to develop an intervention project focused on preventing and delaying cognitive and physical decline among the residents through the practice of Gerontopsychomotricity. Participant observation of activities at the ERPI, along with informal conversations and semi-structured interviews with the elderly and professionals, enabled an in-depth analysis of the target population’s needs. The clinical records of the elderly, which included information about their medical history as well as data from assessment instruments such as the Lawton & Brody Index, the Barthel Index, the Fall Risk Scale, and the Mini-Mental State Examination, were also analyzed. This data provided a detailed characterization of the population, highlighting a high number of residents with significant cognitive deficits and physical limitations. Based on this diagnosis, an activity plan was developed that included Cognitive and Motor Stimulation techniques, with the goal of improving the cognitive and motor performance of the elderly, promoting greater autonomy in functional and instrumental activities of daily living. Various activities were implemented that involved simultaneous execution of tasks, promoting the joint functioning of cognitive and motor skills. The evaluation of the activities revealed improvements in several areas, including attention, concentration, balance, memory, laterality, sensory perceptions (spatial, visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile, gustatory), and motor coordination, as well as spatial-temporal organization.
