Abstract:
Abstract This paper examines the role of telehealth in addressing healthcare disparities in remote rural regions. Focusing on a pilot in Agrafa, Greece, it highlights how integrating telemedicine into community infrastructure can expand access to clinical services, particularly for elderly and chronically ill residents. It analyzes the pilot’s technological configuration, local implementation strategy, and policy implications, emphasizing sustainability and user-centered design. Beyond improving health service delivery, the initiative contributes to rural resilience and digital inclusion. The findings offer a replicable framework for deploying community-based telehealth systems in similar underserved regions, aligning with broader goals of equity and smart rural development.
