A chapter in Technology Management for Intelligent, Open and Responsible Organizations and Ecosystems, 2026, pp 174-181 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Climate change and environmental shocks, such as wildfires, generate significant economic impacts on the forestry industry. This study presents a systematic literature review on the use of Poisson stochastic processes and the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation to model these events. Ten articles were selected based on rigorous criteria, revealing a gap in the literature regarding the application of these models in non-financial sectors. The importance of integrating these approaches within the framework of circular economy and circular ecosystems is emphasized, improving resource utilization and minimizing environmental impacts. Finally, for future research, it is proposed to develop a model to maximize economic benefits in the forestry industry, considering regulations and sustainable strategies.
