Abstract:
Abstract This article analyzes the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on teaching English, with Duolingo as a case study. The platform uses machine learning algorithms to personalize lessons based on student performance, offering immediate feedback and voice recognition tools that improve specific skills such as pronunciation and grammar. In addition, it incorporates gamification techniques, such as rewards and challenges, to maintain user interest and motivation. A quasi-experimental study evaluated the effectiveness of Duolingo compared to traditional methods, finding that both approaches can be equally effective in developing basic language skills. However, it is highlighted that learning exclusively through the app has limitations, such as the lack of human interaction and contextualized practice, essential for comprehensive communication. The analysis included pre- and post-test questionnaires, as well as activity logs on Duolingo, allowing to identify significant progress in specific areas of learning. Although AI tools have revolutionized language teaching by providing personalized and accessible solutions, the article emphasizes the need to combine these resources with traditional methods to optimize educational outcomes.
