Abstract: Abstract The studies on the households’ performance on non-life insurance market remain scarce. In order to fill in this gap, the aim of this paper was to provide an insight into the identification of the leading trends of the purchases of non-life insurance by households in Poland. The study has asked several questions on the contribution of households to the non-life market and on the changes of the products’ structure of their purchases. It was found that the contribution of households (as the share in total non-life gross premiums written) was growing since 2002. The motor insurance-related products (with compulsory third-party liability in particular) remained most important, with the share of c.a. 70% of total non-life premiums paid by households. There were no critical changes in the insurance purchases by households, broken by products (as measured by volatility of the premiums paid).
