The Key Barriers of Reverse Logistics Implementation: A Review

Abstract: Abstract Over the course of the last few decades, there has been a growing interest in reverse logistics, which has not only captured the attention of various companies but also become a topic of contention for researchers. In contrast, the field of reverse logistics is still in its infancy in developing economies, despite the fact that it is becoming an obligatory component of the supply chain in industrialized countries, particularly as a result of difficulties pertaining to regulation. In these contexts, it is necessary to take into account and investigate the obstacles that stand in the way of the implementation of reverse logistics, as well as the numerous viewpoints that are held by the main stakeholders for the development of these systems. From the point of view of the most significant stakeholders, the purpose of this research is to evaluate the correlation that exists between the many obstacles that are associated with reverse logistics. When it comes to the implementation of RL, stakeholders are responsible for 10 out of the 13 significant barriers; hence, this is an important conclusion since it implies that businesses can begin the implementation of product return by first addressing key internal barriers. Furthermore, industry managers may be able to better adopt and manage reverse flows, as well as see through existing and future green solutions for reverse logistics, if they are aware of the important elements in their environment.
