Abstract: Abstract Evaluating the motivation of university staff and their satisfaction level with their job holds significant importance in higher education and workforce management. Such research studies are crucial for universities and educational institutions as they may provide a deeper understanding of the factors that drive or hinder staff motivation, which, in turn, directly impacts the quality of education and institutional performance. This paper evaluates university staff motivation and satisfaction level and their influence on job performance. The analysis is based on a semi-structured in-depth interview, which was carried out at one of the universities in the Republic of Armenia. The results are analyzed using the Importance-Performance and Pearson Chi-square analyses, and the satisfaction and net promoter scores are calculated. The research results identify the main intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors that are important for university staff and lead to satisfaction. The results indicate that job satisfaction leads to a willingness to work at the same workplace and recommend it to others. The study offers insights into enhancing job satisfaction, leading to increased productivity, improved staff retention, and a positive work environment. The study's significance also extends to university administrators and policymakers, as it aids in developing informed HR strategies for enhancing staff motivation and job satisfaction, fostering a more conducive and effective academic environment in Armenia.
