Abstract: Abstract With the growing integration of AI technologies in educational environments, understanding how anthropomorphism influences student perceptions, engagement, and collaboration is crucial. This paper investigates the role of anthropomorphism and social presence in interactions between students and artificial intelligence (AI) systems within higher education settings. The paper explores the implications of anthropomorphism on social presence in higher education, considering both the benefits and challenges. It is established the research on use of human-AI and Anthropomorphism in higher education is in its growing stage. This paper also conducts a systematic literature review to understand the extant stage and explore future directions of the present area. This paper adds to the theoretical knowledge of human-AI and Anthropomorphism be arranging and presenting the literature in a thematic framework.
