Abstract:
Abstract Changes in economy, technology, social fabric and demography generate new demands for organisations According to Manyika (2017a, 2017b) technology is being able to spot patterns in numerical and other data, and this can have very serious implications as far as jobs are concerned. In this qualitative study, the researchers introduce a novel approach to mapping themes related to future of work identified from write-ups submitted by freshmen and experienced employees. This data underwent a sentiment analysis using NVivo software and was later analysed manually with the help of MS-Excel to identify the themes. This qualitative research study provides one of the first comparative studies of future of work on five different themes: workspace, careers, emotions and skills, future leadership, equality and diversity. The study provides valuable insights related to the merits and demerits of the changes anticipated in the domain of ‘future of work’ and reveals a somewhat neutral way in which both freshmen and experienced employees are viewing ‘future of work’.
