A chapter in Progress in Sustainable Mobility Research, 2021, pp 17-33 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The article describes the special challenges for ensuring sustainable mobility in sparsely populated rural regions under the conditions of demographic change. Based on the postulate of the principle of “equal living conditions” potential strategies for action are presented and evaluated. Using the example of a coastal community in north-western Lower Saxony that is heavily influenced by tourism, it is shown how locally adapted mobility solutions can be developed and implemented using the real-world laboratory approach in a co-creative process.
