Chapter Chapter 5 in Understanding Cybersecurity Management in Healthcare, 2024, pp 85-95 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter presents the importance of personal cybersecurity in healthcare, focusing on protecting patient, doctor, and staff data despite escalating cyber threats. As healthcare increasingly adopts digital technologies, vulnerabilities to cyberattacks, from data breaches to ransomware, pose significant risks to patient safety, operational integrity, and professional reputations. To mitigate these risks, effective cybersecurity strategies must promote awareness, resilience, and proactive training for healthcare professionals. This chapter outlines the impact of cyber threats on patient care, the vulnerabilities of healthcare professionals, and the critical role of education in enhancing cybersecurity awareness. By encouraging a culture that prioritizes vigilance and adheres to regulatory standards, healthcare institutions can enhance their defenses against emerging threats, ensuring the secure delivery of patient care as technology advances. This chapter underscores the urgent need for collaborative efforts and continual innovation to uphold data privacy and organizational trust within healthcare systems.
