Abstract: Abstract This chapter presents the overall rationale for the book and its positioning. It defines the framework for the Information Systems Dynamics (ISD) research program that was sponsored by CIGREF and other large international companies. It establishes the context for digital transformation and organizational design, explains why the program is focused on organizational design, and how it relates to the use of IT in companies and societies.
