Chapter Chapter 2 in Enterprise Software Sourcing Performance, 2016, pp 11-56 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter outlines the theoretical and conceptual foundation of the presented study. The investigation starts with a definition of the core concepts in Sect. 2.1. Drawing upon representational view of IT, which serves as central theoretical lens for this study, a novel definition of software sourcing modes is presented. IT alignment and its relationship with representational view of IT is discussed. Section 2.2 continues with a systematic literature review on software sourcing value. Software sourcing value is classified into an intermediate outcome in terms of software alignment and dependent concepts in terms of business process and sourcing performance. Section 2.3 gives a summary of the theoretical and conceptual foundation which serves as basis for the development of a preliminary research model in Chap. 3 . The chapter design is given in Fig. 2.1.
