Abstract:
Abstract The development of a technology product or process in the healthcare sector or the life science industry is generally characterized as being highly diversified and complex. Developing an electronic medical implant, for instance, requires an interdisciplinary team of engineers, computer and data scientists, chemists, biologists, and user experience (UX) designers. For consulting projects in the MedTech industry, this means that there is a high demand for specialized experts. The present work proposes an approach for digitalizing consulting to efficiently deal with the requirements of the high cost and low availability of experts in the medical technology sector. As a representative of a scientific consulting service for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), we have designed an agile consulting digitalization process for the CBMI of the HTW Berlin. To this end, the first step is to realize a prototype system of an online consulting platform that finds and matches project partners having the same professional areas of interest. To illustrate and discuss our conceptual findings, this paper presents a scenario of the consulting process for product development in the medical sector.
