Abstract: Abstract This introductory chapter provides a chapter-wise description of the book. It illustrates the value added of critically reviewing the state of the art on the economic resilience of regions with respect to shocks that are related to climate change and environmental issues. Insights are also offered on the key role of spatial econometrics.
