Abstract: Abstract Since Robert Baade’s pioneering work, a vast literature has arisen on the impact of sports teams and the facilities they occupy on the communities in which they are located. We examine an as-yet unexplored factor that could affect the value of a stadium to a community: whether a college team plays on campus or off campus. If one location draws many more fans than the other, the value of the stadium to the community could rise considerably. We use data for all college-playoff-eligible teams in 2019 to show that building a stadium on campus has no statistically discernible impact on attendance.
