Chapter Chapter 5 in Mastering Technology Transfer: From Invention to Innovation, 2023, pp 33-42 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The transformation process from idea to innovation and commercialisation passes through ten stages: all are necessary and each leads into the next. It is generally not possible to skip any of these stages, but in some cases where the technology is enabling and highly competitive it is possible to shorten the route by combining stages or executing some tasks in parallel. The main go/no-go decisions as to whether to proceed or not are taken at the three Critical Milestones, indicating successful passes through the proof of concept, technical feasibility and industrial viability stages.
