A chapter in Entrepreneurial Education in a Global and Digital World, 2026, pp 99-121 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter critically examines problem-based learning (PBL) within entrepreneurial education, highlighting its essential role in adapting to the demands of a rapidly digitalizing and globalizing world. Through an in-depth exploration of PBL’s theoretical underpinnings, strategic design, and implementation, this chapter illustrates how PBL facilitates the development of critical entrepreneurial competencies. Drawing on diverse case studies and literature reviews, the analysis sheds light on PBL’s effectiveness in fostering vital entrepreneurial skills and attitudes. Key findings reveal that PBL enhances students’ problem-solving and critical thinking abilities and promotes active learning and adaptability, skills imperative for success in today’s dynamic entrepreneurial landscape. This chapter offers actionable insights for educators and academic institutions seeking to leverage PBL to advance entrepreneurial education, thereby contributing to preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the global and digital economy.
