A chapter in Entrepreneurship in Transition Economies, 2017, pp 209-224 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter illustrates the actual state and development trends of entrepreneurship in the Czech Republic. It utilizes outputs of previous studies on entrepreneurship conducted in the Czech Republic as well as various available datasets that are analyzed and compiled in a comprehensive framework that enables the reader to understand the state of entrepreneurship in the Czech Republic and its specific features. The chapter starts with quick description of the specific history of entrepreneurship in the Czech Republic in the last 100 years and then moves to a description of recent development. It focuses on the sectors of the economy in which entrepreneurial activity is the most prevalent. It further discusses entrepreneurship in academia both in terms of entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurship research and proceeds to a description of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, entrepreneurial culture, and the role of government. The chapter finishes with a description of future trends and detailed policy recommendations.
