Chapter Chapter 10 in American League Franchises, 2016, pp 73-80 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract An original franchise of the American League (AL), the Washington Senators played their home games as a member of Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1901 to 1960. Including the league’s 1911 regular season, the club never finished higher than sixth place. Then in 1924 the Senators won an AL pennant and their only World Series. Besides winning additional pennants in 1925 and 1933, the team struggled most years causing financial problems from inadequate fan support and low attendances at its home games in 27,410-seat Griffith Stadium in the nation’s capital.
