Abstract: Abstract A brief summary of multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs) incorporating trade measures is given below. Among the most significant MEAs using trade restrictions for environmental objectives are: Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), Montreal Protocol (MP) to the Vienna Convention on the Ozone Depleting Substances, and the Basel Convention on the Transport of Hazardous Waste.
