Abstract:
Abstract The appendix is dedicated to Friedrich List’s stepson Dr. Karl (Charles) Neidhard (1809–1895), who was an important pioneer in the homeopathy in the USA. In the USA, he co-founded the American Institute of Homeopathy and was a Professor of Clinical Medicine at Homeopathic Medical College, Philadelphia. He was co-founder and co-editor of the “Philadelphia Journal of Homeopathy” and the “American Journal of Homeopathy” of 1838, the first homeopathic journals in the United States, and from 1862 to 1868 he was co-editor of the “North American Journal Of Homeopathy”. Karl Neidhard was a member of homeopathic societies in Leipzig, Munich, Brazil, Massachusetts and Rhode Island and married to the daughter of Richard C. Taylor, a well known geology professor, who intensively studied the geology of Pennsylvania and not least the coal recourses.
