Abstract: Abstract The empirical analysis of the roles of the key actors in supplier learning reveals that two contrasting patterns of actor constellations and modes of actor involvement emerged by the early 2000s. On one hand, the Japanese model of supplier learning combined active lead firm interventions and supplier mobilisation of internal learning sources in accordance with lead firm requirements. On the other hand, the Vietnamese–Chinese learning model was based primarily on the supplier’s own initiative in the mobilisation of internal sources of knowledge.
