Chapter Chapter 1 in Risks in Agriculture, 2017, pp 1-3 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In this introductory chapter, it is highlighted that agriculture is a risky business. The farmer faces different types of risks which can be broadly classified into price and production risks. The former can be addressed by pricing policies and the latter by insurance. But do these risk proofing measures reflect the actual risks faced by the farmers? This book attempts to understand the type of risks faced by the farmers and examines whether the prevailing impression about agriculture risks matches the ground reality.
