Chapter Chapter 2 in Inequality and Poverty, 2019, pp 3-4 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract What is the intrinsic philosophical case against inequality? This chapter addresses this question, and in so doing, it draws considerably on John Rawls’ work in his Theory of Justice, and some of the antecedent influences upon the book, such as the ideas of Jean-Jacques Rousseau on inequality and the social contract. In the process, Rawls’s ‘maximin principle’ is also explained.
