Abstract: Abstract This chapter describes a methodological approach to measure labor productivity, capital accumulation, and aggregate efficiency across countries. This approach is based on the well-known production function framework of the economic growth literature. The chapter also describes the construction of the database that is used in the rest of the book. Countries are divided into two groups (developed and developing) based on their income status in 1990. This classification results in 26 developed countries and 82 developing countries, which are evaluated over the 1990–2014 period. Finally, as an overview of the data, the chapter also illustrates the dynamics of each variable based on the quantiles of the cross-country distribution and their evolution.
