Abstract Occupational diversification can be viewed as a strategy to mitigate the risks associated with the earnings of an individual. With the occurrence of climatic changes, the dependence on one source of income, especially agriculture-related, throughout the year may result in the inadequacy of resources required to sustain the levels of consumption.
