Chapter Chapter 5 in Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation for Sustainability, 2022, pp 31-52 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The purpose of this chapter is to analyze the relationship between entrepreneurship development and its role in socio-cultural changes toward sustainable regional development through the case studies of male and female entrepreneurs in the target region by introducing Trajectory Equifinality Model (TEM) analysis. The results of the TEM analysis clarified that, social and cultural changes in the gender relations are not only necessary for innovation creation, but also for sustainable development. The social capital is important for each case of entrepreneurship development although the quality of social capital varies among the different social groups due to their gender, and socio-political backgrounds. Although entrepreneurial activities have greatly improved the region’s economic situation, the performances among social groups are different significantly due to the level and quality of social capital and technology adoption.
