Chapter 6 in Behavioral Change by Information Provision in a Pandemic, 2025, pp 51-58 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter, we analyze survey data from each of the individual countries—Japan, the United States, and Germany. First, how time is spent appears to vary by country. Second, it is common among the three countries for home activities to be more highly evaluated than outing activities. Third, the perceived importance of information-gathering activity influences outing activities in Japan, whereas people in the other two countries determine outing activities independently from information-gathering activities. Overall, while Americans determine their outing activities based on their own evaluation of each activity considering the risk situation, Japanese and German people are also affected by the surrounding consumption environment, such as lifestyle and income levels.
