Chapter Chapter 3 in Methods of Optimization and Systems Analysis for Problems of Transcomputational Complexity, 2012, pp 107-160 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Optimization methods and problems of control over complicated processes are investigated, and a formalized description of important processes connected with mathematical modeling of complicated environmental phenomena, in particular, phenomena that require the investigation of soil media is given. An approach is proposed to the solution (on supercomputers) of complicated problems that arise in this case. This class of problems is of great importance in the solution of various environmental problems. This problematics is also of interest to geologists, builders, mine builders, and many other specialists. Interest in it has notably increased after the Chernobyl disaster whose intelligent treatment was performed by cyberneticists under the direction of V. S. Mikhalevich. This chapter also considers the optimization of calculations and information security and problems of development of computer technologies oriented toward the investigation of biological processes. It is emphasized that problems that arise in these important lines of investigations are extremely complicated and can be successfully solved only on modern supercomputers.
