Abstract: Abstract One of the most well-known generalizations of the celebrated Radon transform is the so-called attenuated Radon transform. The inversion of the attenuated Radon transform provides the mathematical foundation of the important field of medical imaging, known as single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). In this chapter, we present a novel mathematical formulation of the inversion of the attenuated Radon transform and the corresponding numerical implementation.
