Abstract: Abstract The main idea behind the inexact Newton method, also known as the truncated Newton method, introduced by Dembo, Eisenstat, and Steihaug (1982) and analyzed by Dembo and Steihaug (1983) and Deuflhard (1990) is to approximate the solution of the Newton system.
