Abstract:
Abstract The introductory chapter of this contributed book covers the primary motivation, achievements, and challenges. It also gives an overview of the opportunities of the modern information technology paradigms that have the potential to shape modern sports from the perspectives of sports training, sports data analysis, digital twins in sports, prediction of sports results, and the other essential aspects of knowledge discovery in data arising in various sports. Besides the recent overview of this research area, the authors also summarize the articles in this book.
