Chapter Chapter 8 in Optimal Control of Switched Systems Arising in Fermentation Processes, 2014, pp 105-121 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In this chapter, we propose a state-dependent switched system to model fed-batch fermentation. An optimal switching control model is then presented. Because the number of the switchings is not known a priori, we reformulate the optimal switching control problem as a two-level optimization problem. A numerical optimization method is developed to solve the two-level optimization problem.
