Abstract:
Conclusion This paper does not so much represent a report of research done, but rather an exploration of a business need and an attempt to provide directions for further work. The paper has reviewed trends in inter-organisational business activity, and has considered various approaches for proving automated workflow support. It has identified a number of research directions, somewhat different from the mainstream of workflow research, where effort might most valuably be spent. Hopefully, it is the start of an interesting and challenging jourey.
