Abstract: Abstract This chapter provides a framework for business logistics decision-making by classifying logistics decisions and highlighting the relevant linkages among them. We focus on the precedence relationships among logistics decisions and on how each decision influences and is influenced by other decisions. We also identify the key information required for making various logistics decisions. The core of our framework is a three-part decision hierarchy consisting of a strategic planning level, a network level and an operations level for 48 fundamental logistics decisions. The intricacy of the linkages between the various decisions demonstrates how thoroughly the decisions are interrelated and highlights the complexity of managing logistics activities.
