Abstract: Abstract Dispersion relations were originally developed by physicists H. Kramers and R. Kronig (Kramers, 1926, p.775 and Kronig, 1926, p. 547). These dispersion relations are a pair of integrals that were developed to relate the real and imaginary parts of a function called the complex index of refraction. This index describes how a material medium affects electromagnetic radiation passing through it, and depends on the frequency of the radiation.
