Chapter 5 in An Introduction to Linear and Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis, 2004, pp 89-106 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract To solve two-dimensional boundary value problems in a domain Ω ⊂ R2, we partition the domain Ω into N disjoint Simplexes, such as triangles, rectangles and quadrilaterals. A typical simplex is denoted by Ω(e) where e - 1,… N. In this chapter we will present interpolation shape functions for the linear triangular and bilinear rectangular elements.
