Abstract:
Abstract When the speed of sound is measured, it is found that the speed is independent of direction only if it is measured with respect to the air. If the air is moving at a rate of 20km per hour, an observer on the ground will discover that sound moving in the direction of the wind will move 20km per hour faster than it would when the air is still. Similarly, sound moving against the wind will be slowed down.
