Abstract: Abstract The central theme of this chapter investigates compact perturbations.We shall be particularly concerned with properties of the spectrum of an operator that are invariant under compact perturbations; that is, properties of the spectrum of T that are also possessed by the spectrum of T + K for every compact operator K.
