The Critical Nature of Enterprise Values
Steven Romero
Chapter Chapter 20 in Eliminating “Us and Them”, 2011, pp 195-198 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Just about every company and organization has taken the time to identify their core values. Many enterprises believe values are necessary to motivate employees and provide them with a sense of purpose and identity. Despite the pervasiveness of enterprise values, some people question the notion that company values can influence employee behavior. After all, you can’t expect somebody to live by a value they don’t already share. Though it is not reasonable to impose values or force values upon someone, it is judicious to seek and retain people capable of embodying the values required for the enterprise to prosper.
