Flying Cheap, Part 2

Andrew R. Thomas

Chapter Chapter 5 in Soft Landing, 2011, pp 69-80 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract If you live long enough, you’ll notice that what is the latest and greatest today is merely a current version of something you’ve experienced in the past. In the late 1980s, America was in a funk. Fears were rampant that the country was losing its competitive advantage. The economy was stagnant. Jobs were being shipped overseas in huge numbers. It seemed the American Dream was falling by the wayside as Japan—yes, Japan—was destined to become the nation that would now dominate the world.
