Will Alternatives and Avoiding Probate
Deirdre R. Wheatley-Liss
Chapter Chapter 5 in Plan Your Own Estate, 2013, pp 57-75 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract These days, a will isn’t the end-all and be-all of estate planning. A world of will alternatives are out there: joint ownership; pay-on-death accounts; naming beneficiaries of retirement accounts and life insurance; and the granddaddy of them all, the revocable trust. First I want to educate you about how these are part of your estate plan without being part of your will. Then I’ll show you some smart ways to weave these will alternatives into your estate plan to bring your assets and goals together.
