Abstract:
Abstract As the Acting Associate Commissioner in the Office of Innovation Development at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), John Calvert develops ways to increase the USPTO’s presence in the independent inventor, small business, and entrepreneurial communities. He earned a BS in textile technology from North Carolina State University, worked for 13 years in the textile industry, and joined the USPTO as an examiner specializing in textile technology. He subsequently served as acting director for the Office of Independent Inventor Programs, senior advisor for the Office of Innovation Development, and the administrator for the Inventor Assistance Program. Calvert received the Department of Commerce Bronze Medal and the United States Patent and Trademark Office Exceptional Career Award.
