Abstract Most of us do it and, while we’re not always proud of it, it is a fact of life. Unless we renounce our worldly possessions and assume the life of an ascetic, we’re bound to consumerism. There’s no escaping it. Here’s something you won’t read in most personal finance books: You should shop if it makes you happy. But there is a difference between smart shopping and dumb shopping. To better understand the art of shopping, this chapter will cover three issues:
